Biography

Basim Furat is an Iraqi poet resides in Hiroshima, Japan. He issued many poetical collections and his poetry has been translated into many languages. This poem is from his collection (I embraced a tower thinking it is a minaret).

A drunken with love
Who closed the door
Behind him
And hung verandas
On the waiting sigh
Putting the sea and the airports
Under his armpit
Being charmed by desires
And the nights are lulling him
Devoted to calamity
His scandals are tied
To the pillars of confusion
Pretending forget ness intentionally
I listen to him
When divulgence tries
To watch in his tongue
With a withered tenderness
And his token is purity
Boasted of his faults
Grief is brocading his nights
And his moons
Are full of weeping
